Tate is truly our miracle baby! When I found out I was pregnant, I thought I was about 6 weeks along and almost immediately began having complications. Scott and I ended up in the emergency room on 7/26/10 and we thought without a doubt I was having a miscarriage. After a long wait, they took me back for an ultrasound and when they did, we heard a STRONG heartbeat and we found out I was actually 10 weeks along. We laughed and cried and praised God for a miracle. I had what they called a subchorionic hemorrhage and we left the hospital with the news that "it could go either way." In addition, they said the pregnancy had begun as twins and one did not make it. For the next 4 weeks we held our breath and prayed very hard that our precious baby would live. At each appointment we would get the same news and we would wait some more. Finally at about 16 weeks, we got the news we had been praying for. Tate had outgrown the hemorrhage and the rest of the pregnancy should be normal. And it was . . . at least until the end. A few weeks before my due date his measurements were a little off. I went to a specialist and he recommended that they take him 1 week before my scheduled c-section. At the time, it didn't make since to us. He was measuring small and they wanted to take him early?! This is the second part of our miracle! As I was leaving for the hospital, a horrible stomach virus tore through our house. It started with Reed, then Gigi, then Drew, then Bob Bob, then LuLu. When the doctor did my C-section she said that it was a really good thing she did it early because my uterus was very thin. I was told afterward that if I had waited until my originally scheduled c-section and gotten the stomach virus, my uterus could have ruptured and Tate and I could have died. We serve an awesome God who cares about every detail of our lives! We saw his hand in every step of this pregnancy. We were praying he would be at least 5 lb.s. and he was 6lb.s! What a sweet blessing he is to our family!! By the way, it also snowed while we were in the hospital AND our first night home was spent in the Antwine's basement while the rest of the sick ones recovered and the house was disinfected. We are forever indebted to the grandparents who served so selflessly while we were at the hospital and for countless others who prayed with us for 9 months!!!!!
